Handlung
Amityville, Long Island im November 1974: Fast die ganze Familie DeFeo wurde in ihren Betten bestialisch ermordet. Nur Ronald DeFeo überlebte den Vorfall und gesteht kurze Zeit später, dass er seine Eltern und Geschwister in der Nacht erschossen hat, nachdem ihm "das Haus befohlen hatte, die Tat zu verüben". Ein Jahr später bezieht das junge Ehepaar George und Kathy Lutz mit seinen drei Kindern das verfluchte Haus, in dem sich der Vorfall ereignete und das seit damals leer stand. Doch die anfängliche Idylle wechselt schnell in einen realen Albtraum, als immer mysteriösere Dinge passieren. Tochter Chelsea wird von Visionen geplagt, genauso wie George, der dadurch immer aggressiver wird. Anscheinend hausen hier die Geister der Ermordeten und sind über die neuen Bewohnern gar nicht glücklich.
